Comparing co-educational and single-sex schooles

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

There are single-sex schooles and co-educational schooles, and each school has advantages. In single-sex schools, you have a lot in common with your classmates. Your topics, value system, and ways of thinking are similar. You can talk with your friends freely in the class, and concentrate on study and club activities. In contrast, you may be able to encounter more thinking ways in co-educational schools. You will learn how to talk, treat, and cooperate with the opposite sex at there. These are some of the differences between single-sex schools and co-educational schools. We should carefully consider merits and demerits of each, when we choose school.

Do you know “Himono”?

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Himono (干物) is Japanese dried fish. By hunging out fishes, the taste of fishes are changed, and you can keep it longer. Himono is a popular breakfast menu in Japan. We often eat it with rice and miso soup. It tastes nice :) My favorite is dried horse mackerel.

By the way, there is a word “himono-onna (干物女)” in Japan. Have you ever heard? “Himono-onna” means a lazy woman who give up falling in love. It comes from a Japanese cartoon named Hotaruno hikari (ホタルノヒカリ). The cartoon is aiso dramatized.

Here is the drama’s video. I love this story. I guess you can see them on YouTube.

Swapping papers

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

When teachers want to know the results of a quiz soon, they sometimes tell students to swap them paper. Such paper swapping is common in many school. However, there are proponents and opponents with regard to this issue. Main proponents are teachers. They think it is the quickest way to check students’ results. They can also save time. Proponents say that this practice stimulates students. On the other hand, opponents think students’ privacy have to be protected. There are some students who don’t want classmates to know their ownresults. Thus, there are proponents and opponents. People should be careful in deciding which stance to choose.

Should children have their own cell phones?

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Nowadays, many children have their own cell phones. However, do they really need cell phones? I don’t think so.

First, if children have cell phones, they may absorbed in them and it will disturb their study. Second, cell phones may cause crimes. Most children don’t understand danger of the Internet, and the Internet is too easy to use. Finally, cell phone itself can’t protect children. Many parents trust cell phone too much, but it isn’t safe even their children having cell phone.

For these reasons, I think children don’t need their own cell phones.

The way to get rid of stress

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Many things make me feel stress. Lots of homeworks, relationships with some people, my future… when I think about them, I feel a huge noisy bell is ringing in my head.

I think one of the best way to get out of stress is sleeping. Sometimes I take more than 10hours of sleep. After that, when I wake up, I often find my heart is getting much lighter. Also, laughing is a good way to get rid of stress. My funny marry friends always cheer me up :)

There are many other way to relieving stress, for example reading books (Haruki Murakami is nice!), listening music, go to karaoke, and so on. But I’m too sleepy to keep talking. It’s time to go to bet. haha. So, good night :)

Norah Jones will makes you relax :)

Do dogs have the ability to learn?

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Human beings have the ability to learn. Then do dogs have the ability to learn? To answer this question, Pavlov performed an experiment.

In this experiment, a bell was rung whenever food was put before the dog. Pavlov continued this for weeks. One day, after several weeks, the bell was rung but food wasn’t put before the dog. The bell was rung, then the dog began to salivated. He thought it was dinner time when the bell was rung.

The results clearly showed that dogs have the ability to learn.

My favorite song

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

This is my favorite song. We all can make it through the rain. So don’t be afraid. We can stand up once again.

THROUGH THE RAIN   by Mariah Carey

When you get caught in the rain
With nowhere to run
When you’re distraught
And in pain without anyone
When we keep crying out
To be safe
But nobody comes
And you feel so far away
That you just can’t find you way home
you can get there alone
it’s okay
once you say

I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again
On my own and I know
That I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid
I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day
And I’ll make it through the rain

And if you keep falling down
Don’t you dare give in
You will arise safe and sound
So keep pressing on steadfastly
And you’ll find what you need to prevail
Once you say is

I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again
On my own and I know
That I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid
I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day
And I make it through the rain

And when the wind blows
And shadows grow close
Don’t be afraid
There’s nothing you can’t face
And should they tell you
You’ll never pull through
Don’t hesitate
Stand tall and say
Yeah yeah yeahhhh

I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again
On my own and I know
That I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid
I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day
And I’ll make it through the rain

I can make it through the rain
Can stand up once again
And I’ll live one more day, and I
I can make it through the rain
Oh yes, you can
You’re gonna make it through the rain.

And here is a special pretty video. I guess you like it :)  haha

Embarrassing story

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

There is a convenience store near my high school and students of the school are usually use that convenience store.

One day, when I went to the convenience store, two my friends were choosing ice cream at the store. I also wanted to ate an ice cream, so I walked to the ice cream section and spoke to them “Which one do you think delicious?” but they ignored me. I felt something strange and looked at their faces. Wow! I was very surprised because both of them were actually not my friends but perfect strangers. “Give me a break!” I shouted in my mind. From behind, they were exactly like my friends!

My hobbies

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

I’m interested in fashion. I don’t know if it can be a hobby, but I really like dresses and fashion photography like the picture on the left.  To coordinate clothes makes me much excited.

I also like taking pictures, especially scenic photos. I took many pictures of street views and structures during my traveling in Paris. There were so many beautiful buildings in Paris, so I used 4photographic films to took pictures. Pictures on the bottom are taken by me :)
